Osio Plaza

Osio Plaza in the City of Monterey, CA combines downtown affordable living with a mixed use theatre concept.  Designed in partnership with Barry Swenson Architectural and Thatcher & Thompson Architects, this project includes 6 theatres with 48-185 seats per theatre, along with a Concession area of 2141 SF Cafe, 2246 SF of retail, and 30 apartments ranging in size from 407 SF to 557 SF per unit.

Osio Plaza is a fine example of design satidfying multiple requirements within a tightly designed set of parameters.  Osio Plaza satisfies downtown Monterey’s needs for entertainment, meeting space, casual dining and retail space along with affordable housing in a single building of Spanish style design consistent with Old Monterey.  The bi-level pedestrian plaza connects two major downtwon thoroughfares, creating an inviting environment that welcome tourists and local residents alike.

As the general contractor for this project, Barry Swenson Builder construction completed this on time and under budget.  This project has been a welcome addition to the Old Monterey District and all 30 affordable apartments are currently 100% leased.
